Volunteer East Tennessee
December 17, 2016 - A team of volunteers from U.S. District Court in Knoxville and staff of the U.S. Marshal's Office were organized by Terri Grandchamp to aid the recovery efforts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and other areas damaged by the recent forest fires. The team participate in "Volunteer East Tennessee" on Saturday, December 17, 2016, and the team was assigned to help with the Sevier County Recovery in Pigeon Forge at a large warehouse where all of the donations are stored. Team members helped sort and organize the donated items, loaded and drove vehicles full of toys to other locations for distribution, and helped people affected by the fires shop through the donations for things they need. The experience was very rewarding for all. We found it hard to leave at the end of the day because there is such a great need for volunteers to keep the warehouse operations running smoothly and efficiently. (The photo of the volunteers does not include Judge Reeves and her husband Charles or Greg Dahl.)
